Why is coffee so popular all over the world?

Coffee comes in many varieties, but two species dominate the world of commercial coffee: Arabica and Robusta. Although both are coffee beans, they differ in flavor, caffeine content, growing conditions, and appearance.

Arabica Coffee

Arabica is known for its smooth and complex flavor. Depending on where it is grown and how it is processed, it can have notes of chocolate, nuts, berries, citrus, or flowers.

Arabica plants generally grow best at higher elevations and in cooler conditions. They are more delicate and require careful cultivation, which is one reason Arabica coffee is often associated with premium and specialty coffee.

Robusta Coffee

Robusta is a hardier coffee species. It can tolerate warmer conditions and is generally more resistant to diseases and pests.

Its flavor is usually stronger and more intense than Arabica, with earthy, woody, and sometimes bitter notes. Robusta also contains significantly more caffeine.

Because of its strong character and ability to produce a rich crema, Robusta is often used in espresso blends.

Which One Is Better?

There is no single answer. It depends on what you enjoy.

If you prefer a smooth, aromatic and complex cup with fruity or floral notes, Arabica may be the better choice.

If you prefer stronger flavor, more body and higher caffeine, Robusta may suit you better.

Many coffee blends combine Arabica and Robusta to create a balance of aroma, strength, body and crema.

At Cup & Go, every bean has its own character. Understanding the difference between Arabica and Robusta makes it easier to discover the coffee that suits your taste.
